I really liked the presentations that we had in class on feminism was very interesting. It was very educational to hear about how woman were treated back then. The woman had no say on what happened in their lives. Men controlled everything. I think that, woman deserves a say. That fact that men did not give them a say is wrong. The woman is a huge part of family life. They take care of kids and the household when the men are not home. Woman have  the right to vote on what is important to them. This will help them feel like they are more important to their world.

I think the hallmarks of the sisters on NDNU are very important to us as a school. The sisters left a legacy for us to follow and continue. That is proven with the hallmarks. The hallmarks also show just how important the sisters and their mission to help anyone really is. The first hallmark proves how important God is to the sisters. The second hallmark states that no matter what the sisters with honor the dignity of a person. This hallmark is very important. The sisters are all about helping people. Sometimes however, they will come across people who just don't want their help. It is important for them to accept that and more on to the next person. The third hallmark states that the sisters will continue to fight for justice and peace in our world. This is very important. With all the war going on in our world we need people that will show us what really matters in our world and stop the fighting. Community service is a big part of what the sisters are all about. This is the forth hallmark. Our community would not be as good as it is if we did not have the sisters as roles models for us. Embracing diversity is very important. The fifth  hallmarks touches on that. During their mission the sisters will come across people who are different from the rest. It is important that the sisters don't turn any one way just because they are different. The sisters vow to create a community with the people that they help and serve. This is hallmark six. The seventh hallmark states that the sisters will call upon those who have a love for learning.

There are two ways to deal with the difficult decision of private property. The requirements of common good and the advantages of individual ownership. Common good suggest that material things necssary for good life should be everyday human activities. However we have to be on guard when the topic of idealism of family life comes up. Real families experiance serious changes and numerous problems. Many of the problems come from hardship at an early age. Poverty, illness and materialism are a few. Our idea of family life is constantly challenged by the arrival of new family patterns.

Catholic schools social teachings started because of the church's concern for their workers. Social Catholicism was founded in the ninetheen century, dedicates it's self to improving the conditions of labor when every possible.Government has provided labor protections laws. Minimum wage, safety health and regulation, pension plans, social insurance, and the rights of workers to organize into labor unions. Workers rights to organize and enter into collective bargaining are considered an important out growth of other human rights. Labor unions have received some critismism over the years. There are associated with corruption, favoritism, and the threat of disruptive and violent strikes.

Reading the documents on industrialization was very interesting. The most fascinating section of the documents were the personal accounts of the soviet industrialization. It was very neat to read people's personal experience with the industrialization. It really hit me when I read the"personal account of terror".This document describes a woman and her family all getting arrested and taken down to jail or a labor camp. I think that the way the people were treated was wrong. No human benign deserves to be treated with that much hatred. The woman that wrote the story was very detailed. It really made me feel like I was there with her, experiencing what she was going through.

The Great Depression of 1929 really had a huge effect on people. American stock market crashed on October 24/1929. Wall Street investors committedsuicide. Banks closed, which caused many people to lose their investments. World trade dropped by sixty two percent within a few years. The most important effect that the Great Depression brought was loss of jobs.
Hearing what the Nazis did to Jews was really hard for me. I can't imagine humans treating each other the way that they were treated under Hitlers command. The fact that it could have been prevented so many times is what baffles me the most. The people transporting the prisioners to the concentration camps should have told Hitler that they would not do it. They knew what they were going to do. And the people that built the gas sprayers in the "showers" really should have asked Hitler what he needed them for. Once they found this out, they should have told them they would not complete the job. If these people would have spoke up and said something there would be more people alive today.

The reason for the China crisis is the fact that they refused help from Europe. China grew centuries later. That is why they crashed. China had not  expanded to accommodate their growing community.China lost control to officials and local gentry due to the fact that they can't grow their state. The civil war left China with a twenty to thirty million loss of people. It was the most deadly conflict of the 19th century. It took China a decade to recover. Opium really had an effect on china and its workers. They were forced to trade their most prize possession for the trade. Silver.
The ottoman Empire posted a real military and relgious threat to Europe in sixteenthand seventeenth centuries.
Japanese girls were included in the plans for schooling. However the schools had a gender specific ciriculum and the schools were separated by sex. Woman were not allowed to play an role in public life. The Peace Preservation Law forbid woman for joining any political parties. They were not even allowed to attend meetings were political matters were at order.

There are nine key things of Catholic school teaching. First is the dignity of every person and human rights. Second is solitary common good and participation. The third key thing is family life. Fourth is subsidiatary and the proper role of government. Fifth is the proper ownership in modern societies:right and responsibilities.Sixth is the dignity of work, rights of workers and support for labor unions. Seven is the colonial and economic development. Eight is peace and disarmament. The last one is option for the poor and the vulnerable. The reading for today was very interesting to me. It really helped me understand further what Catholic schools aim to teacher their students.

I actually wrote a report on the Black Death in World History 1. The report was very interesting to do. Some of the stuff that we talked about yesterday was stuff that I learned about for my paper. The plague happened in 1348. The Plague hit Italy. People's out looks were changed after the plague hit.

I enjoyed  learning about the industrial revolution. I found it very interesting that after the Industrial Revolution happened two new classes emerged. Middle class and working class. Middle class- involved Eutreprenures, business owners,  owner of mean production, controls wages, work environment, breaks, many hours per day. Working Class- Labourers owns labor power, define hours/ output. I also learned how the peoples lives changed because of  the Industrial Revolution. Their living conditions changed, more cities were add for the people coming in, packed living led to disease spreading, children were sent to work early on in their life.

I liked the reading for today. The part on the French Revolution was very interesting for me to read. The document on slaves and the Fourth of July, was the one that meant the most to me. As Americans we all celebrate Fourth of July as a holiday. A day to remember and celebrate being free. It is also a day to thank the people that fight everyday to make sure we will always have our freedom. Slaves don't have that. Slaves are always captive by the people that are captured them. No matter how hard they try to get away they will never win. Even if they do get free somehow they will always have the burden hanging over them that they were held captive and treated so bad for so many years. No matter how much time go by no one and nothing  can heal the pain and suffering that they go through everyday.

I really enjoyed learning about the sister and their lives. I love how they are still a part of our school after so many years. The sisters a great role models for many of us at NDNU. When we see what they to help not just us but other people as well, we feel compelled to help. Even though they are older now that does not stop them from volunteering their time to any one that they can. That means a lot to me, as I am sure it means to a lot of other students as well.

This was a very interesting chapter. The French Revolution is a neat topic. I also thought that the news on Haiti was cool as well. I was really young when Haiti happened so I don't remember any thing that happened. The Haiti parts of the chapter brought me up to date on what really happened and the impact on the people that it had on the people that lived there.

I really like the document that we read for homework this week. The document was very interesting for me to read. My loved learning about the future and progress of man kind. My favorite part of the document for this week was. " thus the day will come when the sun will shine only to free men born knowing no other master but their reason; where tyrants and their slaves, priest, and their ignorant, Hypocritical writings will exist only in history books and theaters." This passage really explains what life is like now.

I do not like what was happing to slaves. No one deserves to be treated the way that the people were. The stories that we read were heartbreaking. The worst story for me was the story where the brother and sister get separated and never see each other again. I love my family. I could not imagine getting separated from them and being sold for slavery. I feel like that slaves were very strong to endure every thing that was thrown at them by their owners. I also did not like the discrimination that was and still going on for African Americans. No matter your religion, your race, or your customs everyone deserves to be treated with respect.

I am very interested in doing the paper on the peace and stability of our world. I am thinking about looking into the wars going on in our world.I also want to try to figure out ways to keep our world safe and not in wars any more.  I am really interested in this topic. I look forward to sharing what I learn during this paper. This paper will be fun to work on.
